Still at least 3 Purple Sandpipers on the outer breakwater at Fishguard Harbour this afternoon but surprise of the day was a single Black Guillemot in the harbour. This is encouraging as there were non in Rosslare Harbour yesterday which was really surprising as there are usually quite a few around at this time of the year. About twenty pairs breed in and around the harbour walls They are much less robust than most auk species and I fear they may have fared badly in the winter storms.
